Badging Procedures

SIDA and AOA Badges

Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) and Air Operations Area (AOA) Badges

Many employees who work at the airport are required to obtain SIDA badges. Hangar tenants and other personnel not needing access to the secured or SIDA areas of the airport are required to obtain AOA badges. If you are required to obtain one of these badges, please follow the instructions below.

  1. Schedule an appointment for badging here.  Appointments can be made via phone by dialing (309) 663-7384 but the preferred method is by booking online.
  2. We will need the following for your appointment:
  • Section Two (2) of the CIRA Badge Application  must be completely filled out by the company’s Authorized Signatory for SIDA badges Or the Hangar Lease Holder for AOA badges.
  • Two (2) forms of ID (please see the list of approved I-9 documentation)
  • The application must be completed in its entirety before the scheduled appointment.

*Note: Without the proper ID and approval from the company’s Authorized Signatory, we will have to reschedule your appointment

  1. When you arrive for your appointment, we will review your badge application and ID’s, scan fingerprints (if applicable) and take your picture for your badge
  2. If you will be receiving driving privileges as part of your employment, you will then be given a training packet that gives instructions on setting up an online account. Within one week of your badge appointment, you will need to complete and pass the security and/or drivers training. The results of your test will post to the website for us to review the results. Once completed, you will need to fill out the record of drivers training form included in the training packet and bring it with you when picking up your badge. For AOA badge applicants, we will conduct security training in person.
  3. It can take up to two weeks for your badge to be ready to issue. We will contact the badge applicant via phone to notify them the badge is ready after successfully passing all requirements by the TSA.
  4. Once you receive notification from the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority, your badge may be picked up from our Airport Administration office located on the second level of the terminal building. If you are picking up your badge outside of office hours, please contact the Airport Authority office during normal business hours (Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) at (309) 663-7384 to make arrangements for pick-up.
