Central Illinois Regional Airport is owned and operated by the Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority (formerly the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority). Created in 1964 under the Illinois Airport Authorities Act, the Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority operates as an independent municipality with a seven member Board of Commissioners. The airport is located in McLean county in the southeastern section of the City of Bloomington. CIRA encompasses approximately 1,950 acres.
As of May 1, 2025, the Bloomington Normal Airport Authority became the Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority assuming all responsibilities and operations of the Bloomington Normal Airport Authority.

The Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority is overseen by seven appointed commissioners, two from the City of Bloomington, two from the Town of Normal and three from the McLean County Board.

Pursuant to the Illinois Open Meetings Act, notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of the Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority will hold its regular monthly meetings in the Board Room on the second level of the terminal building at the Central Illinois Regional Airport, Bloomington, IL at 4:30 p.m. on the following dates in 2026. Please note, the meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
The Board of Commissioners of the Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority welcome comments and communications from the community. Individuals wishing to offer comment during a public meeting are welcome to register on the sign-in sheet placed at the meeting location entrance.
Several Committees exist to guide airport operations, including a Personnel Committee, a Property and Facilities Committee, an Administration and Governance Committee, Audit and Finance Committee and Ad Hoc committees for specific projects.
