[Bloomington, IL] – The Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that the Central Illinois Regional Airport has earned a perfect certification inspection from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This annual inspection is a requirement for all airports that serve scheduled and unscheduled air carrier aircraft in order to maintain its federal/state airport operating certificates.

“This is a great testament to the professionalism of all our staff members and underscores the Airport Authority’s commitment to safety. These inspections are incredibly detailed, and a finding of no discrepancies is rare. It takes a lot of hard work and diligence by all our employees to have this successful outcome.” said Alan Sender, Chair of the Central Illinois Regional Airport Authority. “The safe operation of our facility is paramount and crucial to every aspect of the airport’s activities.”

Airport Operating Certificates serve to ensure safety and compliance with national airport standards and are required for airports to host air carrier activities. To obtain and retain a certificate, an airport must meet specific operational, maintenance, and administrative standards, including, but not limited to, pavement surfaces, lighting, emergency response, safe fueling activities, wildlife management, and administrative practices.
