1/9/2026 South Ramp Hangar Door Seal Update

~~UPDATE~~

Since being constructed, many hangar units on the south ramp have had issues with the bottom bifold door seal not sealing.  Over the past few weeks our office has been working with the consultants and contractors to address this issue, which we required them to demonstrate an acceptable solution to the issue on one of the doors before performing work on all 58 doors.  Today, our office has accepted the method to which the contractor will address the door seal issue. To correct the issue of unwanted folding/non-sealing, the contractor filled the door seal with a large foam backer rod to give the seal a “body”, which makes a tighter seal against the finish grade concrete, as illustrated in the pictures. At the outer ends of the door there is a pin which rides the vertical rail (the door seal is actually wider than the door to allow the seal to extend into the rail area so the door can make a complete seal) – this pins moves front/back as the door is raised/lowered, and therefore the seal at these specific points (approximately outer 2″), may seal/settle a little differently each time the door is operated.

Thank You,
