Double Digit Increases in June 2019
Bloomington, Ill. – Recent travelers who have flown in and out of Central Illinois Regional Airport lately may have noticed a few more fellow travelers. In June, CIRA continued a twelve-month streak of increases in passenger traffic, recording a 24% increase in total passengers for the month and a 20% increase for the first six months of 2019.
“Overall enplanement/deplanement activity is trending positive and we are appreciative that the central Illinois community has responded to the air service, free parking and convenience of choosing Central Illinois Regional Airport for air travel,” said Bloomington Normal Airport Authority Chairman Jay Allen. “As we continue to strive toward better serving our community and adding to the service level and amenities available here, we are mindful of the choices our customers make when deciding how to travel. We thank the community for continuing to choose CIRA.”
American and Delta provide exceptional connections through their hubs in Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth and Atlanta. Nonstop service to Orlando continues to be a popular choice for central Illinois Florida bound travelers with Allegiant and Frontier providing service to two different Orlando area airports. Frontier’s nonstop service to Denver from Bloomington-Normal is unique to CIRA in central Illinois and those headed to the Rocky Mountain state are enjoying the convenience and low fares.
Central Illinois Regional Airport offers daily airline service on Allegiant, American, Delta and Frontier Airlines, connecting travelers to the world for business and leisure travel. FedEx operates its central Illinois regional sorting and distribution facility from CIRA with daily Boeing 757 aircraft operations.
