(Bloomington, IL) Today, Thursday, October 11, 2018 two airlines operating at the Central Illinois Regional Airport experienced mechanical delays on two flights to the Orlando, Florida area. Allegiant flight 2105 to SFB- Orlando/Sanford was scheduled to leave this morning at 9:17 a.m. The mechanical issue which caused the delay was not able to be fixed on the ground at BMI and a new plane was deployed to accommodate the Allegiant passengers. That flight arrived at 3:49 p.m. with a turnaround time back to Orlando/Sanford of 4:35 p.m.
Frontier Airlines flight 1502 from BMI to Orlando International (MCO) was scheduled for departure at 10:00 a.m. this morning. That flight was delayed due to a mechanical issue and a new aircraft will be brought in later this evening to re-accommodate the passengers on the original flight 1502. At this time that flight is scheduled to depart at 8:35 p.m.
Passengers with questions regarding their flight should contact each airline individually.

Two mechanical issues on large aircraft is unusual in one day and many passengers waited in the terminal gate area while the two aircraft in question were inspected and there was a determination in each case on the ability to correct the maintenance issues on the ground at BMI.
As these decisions were being responsibly reviewed the passengers of both flights were asked to stay in the gate area to determine if boarding and departures would be allowed. Unfortunately, this unusual circumstance lead to the restaurant in the secured area of the terminal to run short on some food and beverage products.
To assist our passengers, the airport helped supply beverages and the Allegiant and Frontier ground crew supplied pizza and re-accommodations for the temporarily stranded passengers.
Media with questions regarding the details of the mechanical issues for both flights should contact Media Relations for both airlines.
